On September 28, 2006, Fernando Gaitán’s creation Ugly Betty popped up on TV screens, to entertain people with a unique and appealing story. The series is influenced by a Columbian TV show ‘Yo soy Betty, la fea’. The plot of the show surrounds Betty Suarez, who doesn’t have the looks, but gets a job in a renowned fashion magazine company because of her skill. Every season focuses on different aspects, which surrounds the protagonist.

In season 1, Betty gets a job at Mode, which is a popular fashion publication, situated in Manhattan. She gets the post of a personal assistant of Daniel, and editor-in-chief. The first season basically exposes the very many relations Daniel has with various girls, especially with Sofia Reyes. It also entails the situation prevailing inside the company, and people associated with it. Moreover, it also focuses on Wilhelmina Slater, who is Creative Director of the company, and always schemes to dispose Daniel of his job.

Taking the story ahead, Ugly Betty season 2 kicked-off around the same time next year. In this season Betty falls in love with Daniel, but Daniel falls in love with Giovanni Rossi. In addition to that, Daniel toils to sustain the company, after his death of his father. Christina goes back to her ill husband. Wilhelmina and Bradford refuse to wed. Moreover, Hilda makes a decision to switch over to a new job.

In the third season, Daniel develops feeling for Connor’s girlfriend even though, he knows that she is suffering from incurable cancer. Also, Marc and Betty become a part of YETI Program and later becomes Features Editor. Moreover, Connor cheats the company and runs away.

The next season Betty decides to leave Mode. In the meantime, Daniel recognizes his love for Betty. Daniel also leaves Mode and hunts for a new job.

The show is supported by numerous actors. The character of Betty Suarez is played by America Ferrera. The role of Daniel Meade is executed by Eric Mabius. Vanessa L. Williams plays the role of Wilhelmina Slater, Ana Ortiz portrays Hilda Suarez and the character of Marc St. James is carried out by Michael Urie.
