Ugly Americans is an anime series that hovers around mutant demons that’ve been stranded in New York. These immigrants are helped by Mark Lilly (voiced by Matt Oberg) to get accustomed to the changed settings. Mark is a social worker whose sole objective is to help these aliens tread on smoothly without any hassle. The series focuses on a chain of events that ensues as a result of interaction of these quirky characters with each other, and with other earthly beings. The show has a slew of other alien characters that inhabit the earth under the garb of normal beings. These include Leonard Powers, a clerk at New York Department of Integration, who shrugs work like anything. Then, there is Frank Grimes who works in the Law Enforcement Division, whose mission in life is to cleanse the city of all non-humans. Mark’s love interest, Callie also plays an important role in the entire plot. She is, in fact, a succubus and daughter of the God of Hell and smirks at Mark for trivial reasons, yet harbors a soft corner for him as well. Mark and his associates are at the helm of affairs of an organization, The Wizards Guild that aids these mutant demons in every possible way. This science fiction is an omnibus of comedy coupled with punches that are hilarious to the hilt. This cauldron of zombies, demons and aliens strives to survive amidst disguised identities and horde of issues, cropping up due to their limited understanding of the worldly affairs. Mark acts as a pillar to this crumbling pack of cards, who also juggles with issues in his personal life while fulfilling his professional obligations. This mix of wacky characters and a captivating plot heralds another chapter to the debate of co-existence of extra-terrestrials along with humans. To conclude, Ugly Americans makes for an interesting watch. | |||||||||||||||||
