The sci-fi American TV show, the X – Files, is the brainchild of Chris Carter. Premiering in the year 1993, the show culminated in 2002 on the Fox TV network. The slogans and characters on the show soon were embedded into the pop culture of the nineties; such was the popularity of the show. Examples of the famed phrases can be, "I Want to Believe", "Trust No One" and "The Truth Is Out There". One of the most impactful and cult series of its time, The X-Files, blended theories of conspiracy, spirituality with the distrust that people had for the great companies and governments at that point of time. Two movies, based on show, named, The X-Files: Fight The Future and the other titled The X-Files: I Want To Believe were released and proved to be quite successful. The show, The Lone Gunmen was an off – shoot of this series only.
The show has Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) working as the agents with the FBI who have been handed over the X – Files, cases that pertain to supernatural happenings and remain unresolved and are given little importance. While Mulder thinks that supernatural forces and aliens are a reality, Scully does not approve of this theory at all.
