‘The Wire’ contributes to the list of one of the greatest shows created ever. David Simon is the man behind this engaging innovation. On June 2, 2002, the show marked its premiere on HBO. It deals with various aspects of Baltimore, Maryland. The show ran for five seasons successfully. Each season focused on five different issues prevalent in the city.

In the first season, The Wire deals with the illicit drug business undertaken by Barksdale clan. The show revolves around detective, Jimmy McNulty and the judge, Daniel Phelan. They endeavor to eradicate the illegal business of drugs in the city. However, they find the Baltimore Police Department, helpless on this matter. Therefore, they take the whole matter in their own hands and try to uproot the business of illegal drugs with the support of some cops.

In second season, Jimmy and Daniel deal with international smuggling at the seaport system. It shows that the stevedores are involved in smuggling of illegal drugs at the Baltimore port. This business is carried out by the group called, The Greek. Therefore, the show deals with this menace in the entire season 2.

In the third season, the show brings the city’s administration and government in lime light. It focuses on the politicians, who indulge in the drug trading. Therefore, Jimmy McNulty and Daniel Phelan start their investigation to disentangle such crimes.

In season 4 of The Wire, the focus is repositioned towards the school and its students. The inclination of the students towards drugs and crimes are mainly taken into consideration, while keeping the previous three seasons’ happenings in mind.

Similarly, in its 5th season, the show depicts some journalists. It reveals how the news is manipulated and presented. Basically, the main focus is given to print media.
