‘The Soup’ is a comedy show which premiered on the E! Entertainment Television on July 1, 2004. Once again a show of its own kind, that makes people laugh with its different concept and way of dealing with things. The series is created by Jay James and is hosted by Joel McHale.
The basic premise of the show is to ridicule TV shows such as reality television shows or shows that air on E!. McHale and his team select a few clips which become a part of the episode. In each episode of the show he introduces clips to the live audiences which are then played on a screen. McHale in the funniest way then comments and pokes fun at each of the clip before moving onto the next one. Besides just focusing on television and reality TV, McHale has also added pop culture and television to his list which have now become an integral part of the show.
The basic idea for ‘The Soup’ was taken from a very popular ’90s show ‘Talk Soup’, with a few changes here and there.
