The Real L Word is a television show that seeks inspiration from the success of The L Word, which also happens to be a creation of its production team.
It uses reality as a means to throw light on the world of lesbians. It captures the lives of six women in the city of Los Angeles and follows them in their routine.
A creation of Ilene Chaikin, it opened with a first season consisting of 9 episodes, and has unleashed more episodes since then in its second season, thereby taking the overall episode count to 11. Staged in Los Angeles, California, it started with six women in the first season and then increased this number in the second one.
Though majority of the cast was replaced for the second season, the name of Whitney Mixter emerges as an exception. She and Romi Klinger, who made a guest appearance in season 1, were the only two, who were re-recruited for the second season.
The other cast members for the second season include Sadjah, Claire and Francine, to name a few among all. The show is all about these women and their needs and desires, and also about how their love lives span out while they deal with the day-to-day happenings.
For example in season 1, a tricky situation develops where two of them (Kacy and Cori) want a baby. They get a sperm donor lined up, but are pretty much unaware of the rest of the procedure. However, they get through this arduous task. Such dramatic happenings are the ones that form the content of the show.
In other case, there’s a situation where one of them (Whitney) has feelings for another (Sara), and is unable to subdue her feelings. Such complicated and mixed up feelings of different individuals mingled in one show, that’s The Real L Word for you!
