The League is a sitcom that centers on 5 men who are maniacs of Fantasy Football. This virtual game is a part and parcel of their lives. Their objective is to win the game, to get that feeling of being vindicated. It’s also a way to get rid of the burgeoning pressure in their personal lives. This five-some group dabbles with their personal as well as professional lives, and their relationships on both the fronts.

Pete Eckhart (Mark Duplass) is a three-time champion of the league. He has an image of coercing his colleagues into some sort of trouble, and smartly making a safe passage for his own self. Kevin McArthur is a close associate of Pete. The man, who is also the League Commissioner, often toes the line of his wife Jenny, when it comes about the game, thus implementing decisions that are entirely not his. Stephen Rannazzisi has played this character deftly.

Ruxin, a public prosecutor by profession, whose obnoxious craze for the virtual sport, can cause the axe to fall on any of his fellow players. The character, played by Nick Kroll, has an inclination sans boundaries, towards the group. This is often marred by his profound love for his better-half, Sofia. Andre Nowzik, is the biggie in the League, with a championship secure, under his belt. Who would think that such an achievement is accredited to a person, with as serious a profession as plastic surgery? His wacky sense of humor often makes him the butt of jokes that others enjoy to the hilt. Taco McArthur (Jon Lajoie) is a weird one, and Kevin’s younger brother, with not much interest in football.

The show tracks these five principal characters as they tread on their lives. The madness for the game has to be balanced with a maze of issues, ranging from unsatisfied spouse, to parenting to extra marital affair. The punches are hilarious enough to tickle your funny bone for long. Having rolled out two successful seasons, the show presents that side of human nature when over enthusiastic notions start interfering with one’s normal life.
