‘The Cosby Show’ is a situational comedy with African American cast in the lead. The show ran successfully on the NBC Network from 20th September 1984 to April 30, 1992. The series was created by Ed. Weinberger, Michael J. Leeson and William Cosby Jr. Ed.D.

The series basically revolves around the incidents of the Huxtable family. The Huxtable family consists of Dr. Heathcliff “Cliff” Huxtable who is an obstetrician/gynecologist and is married to a successful attorney, Clair. The couple together has five children named Sondra, Denise, Theodore, Vanessa, and Rudy. As the story moves further, the two elder daughters Sondra and Denise are living successful adult lives and later on get married to Elvin and Martin respectively. Cliff, however, is not very happy with his children getting older and the family getting larger. He is very irritated from the fact that all of them are living in the same home and wants the kids to move out. However hard he tries the kids keep coming back home.

The series was third longest running American comedy consisting of predominantly African-American cast. The series was nominated for 47 different awards including 3 Golden Globes and 23 Emmy Awards and won 3 Golden Globes and 6 Emmy Awards.
