‘Scrubs’ is a hilarious depiction of weird happenings in the Sacred Heart Hospital where some bizarre incidents keep happening as tragedies intersect with comedies, narrated by the young medical intern Dr. John Michael Dorian, A.K.A. "J.D". Presented in a slapstick comedy way with very quick and snappy dialogues, the word scrubs is not only used in context of the surgical meaning of it, but also represents the slang which means fresh and new.
And J.D. is not alone in these wacky situations. With him are his fellow intern and best friend since his college days, Chris Turk and another intern the gorgeous Elliot Reid with whom J.D. has off and on romance the whole duration of the show. Then there are the seniors at the hospital, Dr Bob Kelso, Dr. Perry Cox and the very caring nurse Carla Espinosa, who later becomes the love interest of Chris Turk (they both marry in the course of the show and even have a daughter together). Another interesting character is the ‘Janitor’ of the hospital who seems to be not very fond of J.D and tries to find means and ways to trick and embarrass him.
