The Canadian, sci-fi fantasy TV show, Sanctuary, has been made by Damian Kindler. Actually the series is an extension of the very popular webisode series, with eight parts that was launched in the first half of the year and the people could directly buy them online. Such was the popularity of this web show that the Sci-Fi Channel decided to take it up in the usual TV season style with a thirteen episode season. The show has been renewed for a second season as well and it too shall contain thirteen episodes.

The series is all about a one hundred and fifty seven year old scientist of English descent, known as Dr. Helen Magnus ( character enacted by Amanda Tapping) who runs, along with and experts team, the Sanctuary, which is an organization that looks out for brilliant non- human beings which are called Abnormals. Then they research upon and find things from them, even eliminating the harmful ones from the lot.

On 3rd October, 2008 the show started off in the United States and Canada, while the United Kingdom release happened three days later that is on 6th October.

The show has had one of the best launchings for the Sci-Fi channel. The main characters in the show, other than Helen are Dr. Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne) a very intelligent psychiatrist, Ashley Magnus (Emilie Ullerp), daughter of Dr. Helen, Henry Foss (Ryan Robbins) who takes care of weapons and computers at Sanctuary, John Druitt (Christopher Heyerdahl), ex-lover of Dr. Helen and father of their child Ashley, Bigfoot (Christopher Heyerdahl again), Dr. Helen’s domestic help and assistant.
