The popular anime TV show, One Piece has been made in Japan by Toei Animation and was first broadcasted on 20th October, 1999 by Fuji Television. The series has since then successfully completed more than 400 episodes. The show is about a seventeen year old boy named Monkey D. Luffy who has his aims set on becoming the Pirate King by getting the treasure called One Piece.
In America, 4Kids Entertainment gained the license for dubbing the show in the English language for the American audience. The company then collaborated with the Fox Network for the United States release that happened on 18th September, 2004 at the Fox Box block. At the time of dubbing, the actual count of the episodes, which was 143 earlier, was brought down to 104. These too were edited , an example of which is that the cigarettes smoked by Sanji were transformed into lollipops.
After 4Kids packed up the dubbed version of the series in December of 2006, Funimation Entertainment stepped in and got the license of the show on 12th April, 2007.
