Lie To Me is the brainchild of Samuel Baum. The series, which was first broadcast in January 2009, won the People’s Choice Award in two categories in 2011. The series is a police procedural drama, wherein a team of special investigators help in uncovering the mystery behind a number of cases. The cases are often such that solving them is simply impossible without the aid of the members of this group, which is known as The Lightman Group. Lie To Me is a series which is loved by those who are on a constant lookout for a story which involves loads of drama. The series is based on real life people who are established names in the field of psychology. The lead character of the series, Dr. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) is inspired from Dr. Paul Ekman. Like Dr. Paul, Dr. Cal is also adept at the science of interpreting feelings and thoughts on the basis of the expressions that people have on their faces and the way they behave. Accompanying Dr. Cal is Dr. Gillian Foster, a character inspired from Dr. Maureen Sullivan, who is yet another world renowned psychologist. She has a husband who is addicted to drugs. Dr. Cal has a soft corner for Dr. Gillian, who is also a part of The Lightman Group. Other members of the group include the characters Ria Torres and Eli Loker. Together, all these team members are unbeatable when it comes to solving criminal cases, as the slightest of hints given by a suspect through his or her actions, is enough for them to notice and comprehend. Lie To Me has episodes which show how such stories of crime which are seldom encountered by civilians, are treated as a part of daily routine by this group. It is a highly exciting series that takes a novel and interesting approach to reach to the bottom of affairs. | |||||||||||||||||
