Degrassi a.k.a. Degrassi: The Next Generation is centered on general issues facing the youngsters. The show has been winning the attention and appreciation of the viewers for more than nine years due to its incredible themes and its exceptionally talented star cast. It deals with countless contemporary issues of teenagers such as molestation, everyday hookups and breakups, peer pressure, parental issues and bad habits associated with alcohol drinking and drugs.

All the seasons of the show are interesting enough to hold the audiences’ attention for such a long time. Degrassi is majorly centered on the lives of six characters who start their lives from Degrassi Community School and take a long flight to University. The journey of the teenagers is full of pain, trials, excitement and anxiety.

Adam Torres is portrayed as a transgender character who has strong physical and mutual relationships with the other teenagers on the show. Due to excessive anxiety and parental force, he burns himself in order to diminish his physical desires. While doing this, Clare, his friend, stops him so that he can recognize his real identity. After this incident, his character develops a lot, and he start acting like a straight guy.

On the other hand, Alli Bhandari is one of those characters which are the talking heads of the creator. She satirizes the old-fashioned Muslim traditions. She is not so sure about any guy and due to her coquettish nature, she is seen with several male characters of the show. Her choices keep on fluctuating, and she never maintains any serious bond with anyone. Her elopement with her boyfriend, Johnny, is the prime focus of the story.

Holly’s discourteous attitude makes her different from other teenagers on the show. In season 8, her attitude undergoes complete transformation after becoming the captain of her team. In season 10, the creators show her life in the most miserable condition and in order to hide her pain, she ignores all the symptoms. She has been facing the chronic symptoms of Strep Throat, which can cause huge damage to the patient’s kidney.

In a nut shell, all the characters bear grey shades and their acts, both good and bad, take the story into unexpected directions.
