Created and executively produced by Andrew W. Marlowe, Castle is a police procedural comedy-drama series that hit the small screen on March 9, 2009. Castle revolves around Richard Edgar “Rick” Castle.

Richard is shown as a writer who pens down the tales of crime that crop up in his mind. He is the author of bestsellers, which make him a popular man. A strange event happened when one of the murders that Richard wrote in a fiction book turned to be a reality. This made him the centre of attraction for the New York Police Department and raised the brows of many.

Kate Beckett is the detective of the New York Police Department, who is in charge of this murder case. Soon, Richard is called in to join Kate in her investigation. Later, he is seen aiding her in other cases as well. This is because he develops a special interest in her and wishes to include her as a character of a tale whose writing is still in progress.

While Kate is seen unpleased by this plan of Richard initially, the series shows her finally liking the whole idea and growing fond of Richard even more. In addition to this, Richard also works as an excellent source of help when it comes to cracking the most mysterious cases that Kate comes across.

The character of Kate Beckett is played by Stana Katic, who is an actress of Canadian origin. Sharing the screen with Kate and Richard are Javier Esposito, Kevin Ryan, Dr. Lanie Parish, Captain Roy Montgomery and Alexis Castle, among others.

The series is shown on ABC in the United States. ABC Studios are also responsible for the production of Castle. The series has completed three seasons and was renewed for a fourth one in January 2011. A surprising fact about the series is that some of the novels that are released by Richard in the series have also been released in real life.
