The famed American sitcom TV show, Arrested Development, has been made by Mitchell Hurwitz representing the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is all about a dysfunctional family of the Bluths who used to be quite rich in the past. Made in a documentary style, the show incorporates past clips, footage with hand held camera, narratives and old photographs etc.
Ron Howard has not only worked on the production of the show but has narrated it as well, even though he is never credited for it. The story primarily unfolds in Balboa Island and Newport Beach area in California but the shooting majority happened at Marina del Ray and Culver City. Between 2003 and 2006 total 3 seasons of the show were made and broadcasted.
Such has been the popularity of Arrested Development that apart from a lot of critical acclaim, after the show was launched on 2nd November, 2003, it bagged half a dozen Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe and other honors as well. A very strong fan following, various fan sites, a place amongst the 100 Greatest Shows of All Time, compiled by the Time Magazine, all speak volumes about the appreciation achieved by the show.
A film is also being worked upon, based on the show and is commonly referred to as Arrested Development motion picture. All the lead characters shall be seen once again in this movie that will most probably be released in the year 2010.
