Based in a fictional Fort Marshal, and inspired from Tanya Biank’s marvellously penned novel named Under the Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives, Army Wives is a drama that debuted on the small screen almost four years ago. This show is all about four ladies, who are a class apart from the rest. A thing that is common to all four of them is that they are spouses to army men. Apart from them, the show focuses on the life of a man, whose wife happens to be a part of the army. Army Wives creates an almost perfect ambience to delve into the trials and the tribulations of these wives at the Charleston Naval Base, South Carolina. Giving the viewers an idea of the lives of all those who have one or more family members associated with the army, the show aims to present a very intricate as well as a delicate portrayal of general life issues. At times informative, Army Wives is one show that determines how a common man is bound to be dragged into the policies and norms of his profession, while still required to do justice to his family. Situations range from social causes of drug addiction, to various kinds of stress disorders; whereas the inspirational and touchy episodes demarcate a clear line of difference between civilians and those who are associated with the army. The show also cajoles many to join hands and take a common stand against those who take their country for granted, and also inspires many to do something for the progress of the country. In addition to this, the enticing storyline manoeuvres its way through an incorruptible bond between the four women and their man. All of them somehow form a family of their own and then, they are put into a variety of situations, where there is no place for the weak. Mustering up all the possible strength at their disposal, these people fight against all odds and set an example for the rest to follow. | |||||||||||||||||
